Asking to see if you were well-insulated from the ground, as a lot of heat can be lost to the ground.
Also, did you wear a hat to sleep? Again, heat loss from the head can be substantial, as much as 30% is what I have read!

Depending on the filling of your sleeping bag.
If it is a down or feather/down one, then why would its efficiency be diminished over time unless you have lost some of the filling over time?
If it is a synthetic fibre one, then, yes, it could have been compacted and lost some of its ability to insulate.
A 2in solid foam should be sufficient to provide good insulation from the ground.
I don't have any recommendation for a sleeping bag as I prefer a duvet myself.
Hopefully, those with more experience with sleeping bags would come along soon and offer their advice.
