Luggage scales and weigh it! The most accurate method.
Cylinder needs to be disconnected from regulator/hose and removed from locker (if in a caravan/MH) to get a accurate reading.
Weigh cylinder and deduct 'Tare' weight to give remaining content of gas by weight.
Tare is the empty cylinder weight and will be marked on the cylinder somewhere, Calor have a disk around the outlet with the tare in old fashioned Pounds and Ounces (it's just the two double digit numbers, no other markings in that sector of disk), other brands mark in various places usually in Kg.
Convert the Calor Pounds and Ounces tare into Kg to give you consistent units to work with, plenty of online converters available!
Alternative is to use the typical cylinder tare weight published by Calor (not so accurate, no two cylinders are identical) for your calculations, generally good enough for judging when a refill is imminent. https://shop.calor.co.uk/6kg-propane-gas-bottle.html
The magnetic 'labels' in the link posted above ONLY work when you are drawing off a noticeable amount of gas, they rely on the chilling effect of liquid turning into gas to indicate the liquid surface level, if you are not drawing off gas or only very little they won't give you a reading!
Shaking it and listening for the 'slop' noise gives a fair idea once you get your ear in, but a bit hit and miss if unfamiliar.
Various 'gadgets' (At Circa £60 upwards! - rather expensive compared to cheap luggage scales at £5!) available that detect the liquid/gas interface to give a clue as to remaining gas, but still not as accurate in meaningful terms as simply weighing! - benefit is, they can be used with cylinder in situ and still connected. 'Fuel' gauges are available that fit on the gas outlet and indicate contents, but are notoriously inaccurate, as they are basically re-scaled pressure gauges, and the pressure only drops significantly as the cylinder approaches empty - how useful is confirmation the cylinder is empty - stating the bleeding obvious really!!!!
