We have only used 2 leads once. We hung the cable on adjacent fence so as not to leave it on the ground.
We always uncoil the cable even when close to the hookup. Just zig zag it along the ground. I have seen several people leaving them coiled- even our European neighbours using domestic cables coiled on the drum!
