i just ont see how and why? for a start they are way to heavy for most cars roofs,, which are only rated to carry 50 kgs, 2 people could weigh around 200 kgs! a roof tent is many times heavier than that before you even climbed into it, best way of not being able to shut yours doors properly that i can see.
A 50kg rating will be a dynamic limit i.e. the maximum approved load given you'd be going round corners, doing 70mph on a motorway etc. The static limit - which is what's relevant for a roof tent - will be significantly more than that. Indeed I'd expect a car roof to be able to take the weight of the entire car in order to provide protection in a rollover situation.

add to that the fact that the only thing you can do is to sleep in it, you have to cook and sit around outside, so what happens when its raining?
I thought that would be kinda obvious, sit in the car.

Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
An alternative in today’s CCC magazine - a review of the Swing Away THRE360 towball-mounted tent. Costs from £3,750, I can’t say I’m convinced that it’s worth that much but it might suit someone who’s not wanting to climb a ladder up to a roof tent. The review mentions that it can be set to a height that is suitable for a wheelchair user to transfer into it, but that’s not been tested.

Doubt at that price they’re going to be inundated with orders.
Far too expensive for what it is.
