Please give me some advice on correct unit to buy, hose etc. And apologies if I’m not up to speed. I was smashed off the road last year and now have a brain injury, so I’m not as sharp as I used to be!
This is the unit I was thinking to buy, the QR version of the Cadac 2 Cook 2 Pro which is £89 with the current discount code: https://www.bbqworld.co.uk/m/cadac/cadac-2-cook-deluxe-qr.asp
I want to camp with the family for 4 days with it and cook lunch/dinner as well as hot water for teas in the morning. So I’m thinking two of the Cadac (or other if you advise) EN417 500g disposable canisters would be enough: https://www.bbqworld.co.uk/m/cadac/cadac-gas-cartridge.asp
The problem is, if I buy this hose will it clip on easily or is it the wrong model: https://www.bbqworld.co.uk/m/cadac/cadac-en417-regulator-and-hose-kit-quick-release.asp
My concern is that the QR fitting on the main unit will not connect properly with the QR hose but maybe I’m worrying over nothing.
Sorry for my lack of knowledge in these basic camping things. Just can’t get my head around it as there seem to be so many different connections and models adding to my confusion!
My wife may still overrule this purchase but I’m trying to avoid cooking on the £20 single burner plastic case Campingaz job again as it was pants.
Hi, another one with post crash brain injuries here. Hope recovery is going well.
I checked online and it looks like that model does not use EN417 canisters. Instead it would need a hose and regulator for fitting to a 6kg patio gas or similar cylinder.
There are cadacs that run off EN417 but they are the bbq type models. That link to Cadacs has clickable links to regulators etc.
All the best

Hi Campingminion. We bought a Cadac 2 Cook 2 Pro last year, and it is so much better than our previous Campingaz 2-burner. As Ewen C says, you can't use the cartridges with it. You need to buy a separate regulator and hose from Cadac to use with a gas cylinder (ours works with Campingaz). The hose is really easy to clip on and off the stove.
I would say the Cadac is definitely a great purchase, easier to control the heat (and doesn't burn everything like our previous stove) and the grill pan is fantastic for cooking meat etc.
Hi CampingMinion. Please reassure your wife this will be a purchase that will realise multiple benefits…
Verity of meals that can be cooked increase dramatically over the suitcase stoves
Everything will be easier to clean
You will LOVE cooking on it
Therefore, she can enjoy nicer meals, not have to do any cooking, and as BBQ related activities include cleaning the BBQ she will have less work to do on camping trips 😀
Can I also recommend the soak tray. A silicone bowl a few cms bigger than your preferred Cadac grill/pan/dish on any given day that you fill with water and a smidge of washing up liquid, put the grill/pan/dish in for 15 mins and watch the food and oil residue melt away! X
