IMHO, more secure than magnets....
Some companies sell them as a basic roof clamp, some include other fittings, or you can buy a really useful accessory pack (which I did) which includes bungee cords, metal 'S' pieces, and clamps, to fit onto the front of the awning. Then I attach a non-elastic cord to both the awning clamps and the roof clamp.
I love the Caranex as a car awning: it has a sewn-in rear bumper skirt which eliminates those under-car draughts! Also a stand-alone kit and a sewn-in groundsheet.
