Having now bought our lovely Bailey Phoenix 640, I'm now focussing on things that we need that's different from in our dear old Ellie. So I'm wondering if it's worth investing in an island shaped duvet or to just use a normal one, albeit we'll probably be better off with a king size now? We don't pick it up for another week but I'd really love to have everything ready that I can. ,Apologies if I sound a wee bit excited💃I will be getting the island shaped fitted sheet and mattress protector though but duvet?????
We didn’t bother with any island shaped bedding at all. We use an Asda fitted sheet which is elasticated all the way round, rather than just at the corners, and it fits snugly and perfectly on the island bed. We also use a normal duvet and cover and tuck the bottom corners under.
Ah ha! Well Pixie, it now looks as though we'll be saving some money after we take your advice and take a trip to ASDA for a fully elasticated fitted sheet👍So I'd like to thank you very much for that. Still probably need to invest in the island shaped mattress protector though and thinking about it, I probably won't need to upsize our normal duvet as the bed's only one inch wider than our normal double bed anyway🤦I'm obviously over thinking all this with the excitement of it all😄 But I do have another question......this caravan is 4yrs old but has no bin anywhere. Looking at the door, where we'd have expected to find one, there's what's obviously meant to be a magazine/paper rack at the bottom. Any ideas of a suitable little waste bin that will fit on the door? I have been browsing,(endlessly), but without having access to physically look at the door again until we do the change over, it's hard to imagine measurements. We're not fans of having a bin in the awning. Any suggestions gratefully received peeps.
It’s the sheet material that’s important for us. We don’t use a fitted sheet on the MH bed, we use a King sized linen (in summer) or brushed cotton (in winter) duvet like a huge sleeping bag, with a duvet in its cover on top.
Stayed at SIL’s house, wondered why we were waking up lathered in sweat; when I stripped the bed on leaving, the deep fitted sheet from Denholm was 100% polyester, way too hot for us, obviously fine for them.
Thankfully, the type of material we use for our sheets doesn't seem to make too much difference to us apart from overheating if we use brushed cotton so we steer clear of that. I'm now even considering getting a bog standard mattress protector and adjusting the end to round it off on the sewing machine🙅Need to try and save some pennies now really but ...... I won't of course😂
