there was a thread on here a short while ago, about the recent lidl offer on above receiver system.

what happened, when you tried them, or other people tried them, did they do the job, fairly easy to set up, etc.?  just found a couple in stock at lidl - either new lot in, or returned goods maybe if no good..........any comments please, so can buy one, before they go tomorrow, or leave them for someone else to buy a dud

sorry scarrow, dont understand - tried link, but cant find any reference to it, have already tried search on this site, but only the very recent thread referred to - understandable, as was only on offer last week.

thanks teash.......had already looked at odd links, but wanted a real review or two.....you have decided for me - wont bother to go and get one in that case....am bit of a dumbo when it comes to setting things up too, so best leave my £70 for something else.......shame....sounded ideal

Have set mine up in the garden.  About 50 channels available on Astra 2 and, with a slight dish adjustment, about another 20 on Astra 1 (Less powerful transmitter).  The weakness on this set is probably the dish and LNB, so I'm buying another of these and will set these up on the house and use the receiver from the set whilst at home, and the small dish when in the caravan. 

Was no more difficult to set up than any other system I've had.  Will be trying it from a site later in the month.

thanks guys - have abandoned this idea....sounded too good to be true, and obviously was......also will be wary about Lidl.....did have probs once, trying to locate spare part, and in absence, taking item back......you cannot speak to the store in person, and you cannot find out where might have what you want....they are not very helpful at head office either from my experience....another reason wanted to get some reviews.....

If you didnt get any pic, or a poor pic you must have been setting it up incorrectly, you need to point the dish at the sun at 11.30 am.

There are 3 satellites you can tune to - ASTRA1 ASTRA2 and HOTBIRD. I think Astra 1 only has a few channels, it's a matter of finding the others by moving the dish 19 degrees to find Astra2

Lots of people on another forum have set theirs up with great results! I havent tried mine yet!
