Hi folks, i need a new stove as my old one nearly burnt me arm off over the bank holiday! I have read a review about the new american Jetboil, apparently it can boil a litre of water in about 2 minutes! and it packs quite small and can be safely used in high winds!!! I just wondered if anyone had 1 and what they reckon. cheers

Kermit

Not got one, but you may want to have a shufty at the 'reviews' part of the outdoorsmagic.co.uk (i think that's right). There are quite a few personal reviews of the jetboil and they are all from 'seasoned' climbers / hikers etc. I would do a direct link if i know what the hell i was doing on this computer thingy. They are meant to be pricey over here, but you will probably get charged duty/Vat if you order from overseas also, so you are likely to be fleeced either way.

Nb- search on their forum for the topic also, but don't get involved in the forums if I were you as they are the most rudest, clicky and smug bunch you will find.

regards

Whoops sorry, thought the thread said:

'Jelboy - Has anyone got one'

... and wondered why anyone would want an old Scottish, haggis-muncher - apart from Mrs Jelboy of course (and that's probably open to debate! LOL).

Cheers  Scrum  Half,

Nice 1, i'll have a look at outdoors magic, i try to avoid it too. I know what you mean about there forum on there, i tried to help someone out on there a while ago with advice and (a) got p*ss ripped out of me or (b) got totallly ignored. Definately seems clichey like you say and if you don't mention top end & over priced gear they murder you!!!!

I have seen jet boil on on e bay for about £60 but to cook with normal pans you have to get an adaptor which is £15 to £20 as the basic stove has a cup like container attached but no pan supports. That makes it 1 very expensive stove with all the bits n pieces, don't you think. Probably very popular at outdoors magic! God i'm a bitch!!

Take it easy

Have a look at the Coleman duel fuel stoves. The Sportster is a single burner, very powerful and economical.
