Hi, just wanting some advise on what to take for 9 month old baby for meal times. He likes to sit up at the table in his high chair with the rest of us at home, but won't be able to fit the highchair in for our 2 week holiday. Just wondering if anyone has any ideas or if you can get a booster seat that fits onto the fold up camping chairs. Was looking at the safety first fold up booster but not sure if it will fit. Any advise or ideas would be much appreciated.
Hi,
Mothercare do a full size highchair thats really slim & folds in half its made by Cossato especially for travel I haven't tried one but its really popular & I haven't heard any bad reports or had any come back so thats a good sign. Also there is the inflatable booster seat I think by safety first (sorry thats really slack I should know its my department but I just can't remember!!) But I don't know if it would be any good on a camping chair , will try & find out for you though, maybe I could sneak one of my camp chairs into work for research purposes!!!
Lou
Thanks for the advise, will try to get to see the cosatto one. I've been trying to think of a way of trying the boosers out on a camping chair, but thought I may look rather strange if I took one round the shops! Please let me know if you do get a chance to try it out at work!! Thanks Emma.
We have the 3 position booster from Argos cat 375/4535 at £12.99. Weve used it loads whilst out on holidays/freinds etc. Our little girl is two and half now. I cant remember exactly when she started using it.
We have used it at a couple of freinds BBQ's on the cheap rigid PVC patio furniture chairs - you know the ones that come in green or white. This has worked fine.
You could use the Booster and a plastic chair camping. If you cant fit the plastic chair in, just buy one when you arrive and donatete it when you leave. Argos, poundstretcher, DiY places all do them fo about £5.
Might be a cheaper option than the Mothercare chair.
I used a cheap white plastic highchair from Ikea...the same ones they have in the cafe. It and the optional tray were £13. The legs are just four easily removable poles and the seat takes up less room than a booster seat...you can fit a gas bottle inside! And the removable tray is flat. You need to add reins, but it`s a very sturdy, easily cleanable highchair, and extremely stable. I ended up using it at home as well, because it was just so much more practical than the house chair. My daughter was still using it on campsites when she was nearly three.
I think it would take up less room than a booster seat plus folding chair, be safer, last longer and be cheaper.
We already had the booster, but as Val said we wouldn't use it with a folding chair, only a rigid one.. I know the Ikea chair you are talking about and it's an excellent solution especially with the legs being detachable. For £13 it seems like a steal.
Had a look at the ikea site - highchair looks ideal - especially the price!!
Trust me...it`s one of the best bits of kiddy camping equipment I ever bought. Remember to get the tray as well, because it`s great for the toddler to draw and squelch dough or whatever on while you do the cooking.
Sorry don't know if I'm being thick - I had a look at the ikea site but can't see one for £13 and I'm not sure which highchair you all mean. Does anyone know the name of it?
I've just seen a fold up chair at www.minimarvellous.co.uk for £34.99 its got a metal frame and polysetser seat and looks like a proper high chair (no trya though) its item no 4826. Folds up into a small bag.
I am another fan of the IKEA chair! One of the nicest things I found was that without the front tray, the chair is at a good height for the child to sit at the table with everyone else, as it will tuck under the table top for a normal sized table.
Another practical feature is that the chair is one smooth surface, so it is incredibly easy to keep clean - no seams or corners for sticky crumbs to get caught down! Also I think I read somewhere that the seat can be cleaned in a dishwasher!
