Have you thought about taking the sleeping bags to a launderette to wash them? Their machines are usually bigger than the domestic washing machines!

Hi. do what we do and take it to a launderette. the drums there are huge so will easily take them. Best to take them home and dry them naturally as they can be affected by the heat of a dryer.

I would NEVER EVER trust one of my treasured down (feather) bags to a dry cleaner, heavan knows what nasty smelly chemicals they would use.

You should ideally hand wash down\feather bags with a natural soap, no detergents.

Nikwax sell a soap specifically designed for down\feather items, and with care they can be machine washed although you should flush the washine machine with clean water first.

We've got two large single sleeping bags that zip together, I took them to the local laundrette along with our duvet, paid to leave them there for washing and drying and picked them up the next day.  Can't remember how much we paid, but it was well worth it.  I usually take them once a year at the end of the season, in-between I just air them on the washing line.

All of ours will go in the machine except pne of them,its just too thick to fit in I get that washed in the launderette,but not very often we try to air it out as much as possible.There are some that just wont fir into a regular washing machine at home.

I would bin it but its a footie one and my son insists he keeps it.

I paid about £5 each to get mine done at the local laundry service.  Well worth it -they even collected and delivered.

Our bags actually specify that they should be washed in a commercial sized machine. They certainly wouldn't go in our domestic one.

Know that feeling well Wildie.  We have four kids and the washer is always on!  Just need to find someone else to do the ironing!  

Can fit our single bags into our washing machine but the kingsize double has to got to the launderette.  I have also tumble dried the singles and it doesn't seems to have had any adverse affect on them.  Plumped them up nicely actually.
