a bit dodgy with polyester being highly flammable!, we used to cook in the porch of our tent when raining, behind a windbreak, much safer

Has anyone used the Khyam Utility tent?  It says 'showerproof only' on the details, so wondered if it was really useful as a store tent.  I suppose it could be so that people don't think it's OK for sleeping in.  It looks a really useful size and the price is not bad.

I think you'll find that the Sunncamp one has an hydrostatic head of 3000mm which would make it truly waterproof.

Thanks for that, Steve.  We had a Sunncamp one, which we sold earlier this year as we had no use for it at the time.  Now, we are changing our 'van next week and it looks like a storage tent might be useful so checking things out.  We will probably see how things work out before rushing into anything else.

Loader...this was covered last week and there are lots of people that cook in their tent...and others that don't.

We have cooked in the tent no problem but usually have the cooker outside under the gazebo behind a windbreak..much..much MUCH..cheaper than a utility tent.

Why can't we live in the tent..?

I have a satellite 6 but cook outside behind a wind break but I must admit I have cooked inside when raining and it was ok just have to be extra careful especially with kids around.

we only cook in the porch if it's absolutely desperate...other than that we'll be using a windbreak and gazebo ( taken down when it's windy ! )

The satellite 6 whether Wynster or any other make looks dodgy to cook in.  Too much polyester too close to any form of heat, unless you cook in the "dead centre".

Hadn't realised the problems which could arise with the newer shaped tents.  Having been an old framer before.  Friends have tunnel type tent and have purchased 4 sided gazebo just incase is rains....

It's fine so long as you are careful. Mountaineers do it all the time (missus).

The main thing to remember is to always have a flow of air to prevent the buildup of carbon monoxide.
