Hi All,

Please answer this wee bit of ignorance of me. Can you use an in - car battery charger for any appliance that fits the plug type?

I do know that AC chargers are rated +/- and certain voltages and so can not be used for more than their intended appliance unless all of the above is the same.

It's the same with car chargers. The plug type doesn't determine the polarity or the output voltage (or current capability). You generally need to use the correct type for the appliance being charged.

An alternative is to install a small inverter in your car and use the mains charger for the device.

I think you need to provide some more details, what are you trying to charge, and where are you plugging it in ?
