I use a couple of the small halogen desk lamps. £4.99 each in B&Q. Low wattage and useful if you like to read in the evening.

Crumbs, I bet your outfit looks well posh sapper48 with an uplighter in your awning? Until now, with our old girl we stuck to making do with the awning light and a Coleman rechargeable, (excellent reading light too), on the table along with a citronella tea light to deter those blasted mozzies,  but now we have an external three pin socket already done, we might go 'up market'  and get a wee table lamp or even a hanging one!!! Just so long as it's lightweight, I'm getting a bit over obsessed with our new van being three feet longer and naturally heavier unladen. Never been able to get to grips with this weight lark and have only ever followed my gut feeling. So far this has always been perfect, but I'm just a worry wart. Very out of character with my 'hippy chick' philosophy I know. Have splashed out and paid that extra bit for the alloy poles with the new awning though and reduced weight considerably by investing in a much lighter weight LCD TV and leaving the 14"TV/VCR combi at home in future. Even I can lift the LCD with one hand!

Think I might be spending more time in the awning in future too since it has warm air heating in it now - ah, luxury for me being a cold mortal. To hell with extra gas expense, give me WARMTH!

Similar to ours, and also good from the safety angle in case of condensation/worse

Good idea on the 12v ones too, we need some more lighting
