Planning our very first camp trip.
Have the loan of a roofbox if we want.
Our target is Oban in the Argyll and Bute area.
We are based in Derbyshire.
I have a 1.8 petrol Passat saloon.
Anyone any ideas on the extra fuel consumption a roofbox will make?
Trying to work out if the extra space is going to hit my pocket too much.
Thanks for this Paul,
It's roughly 360 miles one way, so I rekon with the roof box i'm looking at 2-6 gallon more, which may mean around £13 extra which makes taking it worthwhile.
Many Thanks
Andy
I also have a 1.8 Passat.Coming back from Devon today (280 miles) with a FULLY loaded car/roof box/trailer tent with the air con on i averaged 32 mpg.The same trip minus 1 adult the roof box and the trailer tent i average 38 mpg
