Every time I've had a look at one of those roll-up tables, I've decided that the surface isn't smooth enough- I'd be a bit concerned about putting a wine glass down on them for example. So far we haven't succumbed to a table at all though- it get a bit silly goiing camping when your car is full to bursting.
We have one of the Lidl ones, and solved the 'surface' problem by always using a heavy duty vinyl table cloth over the top. It's heavy enough not to blow away at the slightest breeze, and most importantly for us, gives a smooth wipeable surface - you don't have to try and get the ketchup out from between the slats!!!!
For those worried about stability, ours is very stable indeed, but you do need to remember when you move it anywhere, to hold it by the legs and not the table top, as that is only loosely connected.
