Yes, the cost of the gas is about £13 for a 907 bottle but it should last quite a while as long as you're not running a fridge off it or a permanent heater.

Forgot to say, you only have to buy the empty bottle once - you just change it after that for a full one.

We never signed anythin ?? We just grabbed a couple of canisters from the local recyling center for free ,then took them to calor and paid £10.99 to swap for full ones!

I exchanged the bottle I found in parents attic (hadn't been used for about 20 years so I didn't want to use it either), also I didn't pay £13 for the refill as I purchased a tent from the same shop to be collected the following week, they then accidently sold it again so gave me a free gas bottle as gesture of goodwill.

Does that make mine the cheapest bottle of gas?

Not all places charge silly money for your initial gas bottle.

I live in Wolverhampton and one of my local dealers will sell you a 'new' bottle without any deposit. Why? Because his prices are SO cheap that he knows you will not go anywhere else for gas.

Shop around try builders merchants too (Hint Hint)

One of our local plumbers kindly gave me a empty calor gas bottle when I enquired if he had any "spare" (as he worked down my street.)

I then took it to my local fruit shop and they swapped the calor bottle for a butane one and they only charged me for the refil.
