Used ours on a coleman duel fuel stove, and they don't get much hotter.

  Still rubbish

Cut the middle out(second ring of holes in).

Put fine mesh (old fire guard or tea strainer )?  held in place with wire.   over hole.

  Should work now

Been there, done that and bought the t-shirt - and wasted the £3.99 we paid for it!!  What a waste of time and money.  We have EHU and take a small toaster with us - the perfect way to have toast whilst camping!

You can see the other thread on this headed Gelert Toaster where we had exactly the same problem, we have complained to Gelert who made our "toaster" this is the main bit of an email my partner got on 25th July from a guy at Gelert Ltd Uk. My partner answered on the same day and gave him the link to this forum, and challenged him to provide proper instructions seeing as we all must be using it wrongly and to try it himself, still haven't had a reply yet!!!

"I have been advised by our Sales office that you purchased a CUT059 Toaster and found that the product in question does not work.  First of all please accept our apologies and may I suggest that you return the product directly to us so that we can examine same.  After testing, we can then advise you further.

For your information, we have sold this product for a number of years and we are obviously disturbed to hear of such a complaint.  If what you say is correct, we will of course make contact with the factory immediately."

Seems to me that we all need to kick up a stink when products are such rubbish, this company have obviously been living in ignorance for a long time or something else!

We bought one even after hearing how useless they are (the OH is of the 'I'LL BE DAMNED IF I CAN'T MAKE TOAST WITH THIS THING' persuasion, still haven't used it yet!  It's residing in the car boot from when we bought it.  After eating sausages & bacon baps for brekkie the last thing wanted is toast.  Although come to think of it toast & marmite......HMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!

Whoever said drinking & driving don't mix wasn't entirely correct. They mix, just not very well, unless you are looking at driving into a wall & not remembering it the next day, then they mix just fine.

I have to come to the defence of this toaster but I know Im out numbered!!!! We have two and we find they work great. We use it on an Uno Sungas Stove and have had no problems. We even toast pitta breads and crumpets on it.

Oh dear, I bought one of these last week (4 slices at once seemed better than the rectangular one).  I haven't used it yet, but I take a little comfort from the last post as it will be used on a flat stove, so hopefully it will be OK (failing that, the base may be good for a game of extreme frisbee?)

They work really well on the coleman dual fuel stoves too. We use one on our single burner coleman stove and the toast is done in no time. These toasters need a powerful stove to work effectively.

have you all tried heating it up for 10 mins before putting any toast on it. so the heat cooks the toast and is not absorbed by the metal. Just a thought its what we do and I've already said never had a problem.

One day if I am ever tired of living I might give it another go (NOT)  frankly you would be better shoving the bread on the end of a fork and holding it over the gas ring

Hello Arfur, you are probably using the wrong type of bread!

Hey I never thought of that what would you recommend?, "ready toasted" bread?

Actually the OH is usually in such a rage after putting the tent up I could probably just hold the bread within shouting distance, and hey presto a few seconds later -burnt toast
