I'm surprised no-one's mentioned SmartNav; it's great! Can't remember what I paid but I know it was pretty cheap. Different from any of the others in that you press a button and are connected to a call centre (24/7/365). You can give a postcode or address or (and this is great) explain vaguely where you want to go! The agent will stand on his/her eyelashes to help, using Google and various databases to find your destination. They then download the route to your car. It's linked to TrafficMaster so uses realtime traffic info in the routing (and rerouting if conditions change).
There's an optional screen, which isn't pretty, but is functional.
Another bonus is that in an emergency, you can hit the button and the agent knows exactly where you are and can send assistance.
In my experience, the agents are so bored sending routes by postcode, that when you do ask them to help you out with something, they jump at the opportunity..!!!
