All you Cadac owners out there, I need your help and advice.
My Cadac is very disappointing. A poor little flame, and when you turn it up, it goes yellow and loads of soot forms on the stove. I don't think this is right but have been told by the supplier to carry on as all these cookers smoke at the beginning. I can't understand that; the gas source is exactly the same whether it's the first use or the twenty first, so why the soot? Also, the model number on mine shows it to be for the scandinavian market (Denmark, Sweden, Norway etc) so i haven't got the GB model. However, supplier says they're all the same (!!!)
Does anyone know what the problem might be -or am I having the wool pulled over my eyes?
We have had one for 6 months supplied by Camperlands in Feb. We have used it half a dozen times and each time its been brilliant. A clear blue flame that goes as high or as low as you need it to and with no soot. We have never had soot or smoke Yours does sound like its faulty and you are getting the run around from whoever sold it to you.
I have my second one that is faulty - the peizo ignition only works once and the gas regulator just turns around and around - it's going back for another replacement!
I haven't heard of, or seen any soot forming, with anyone else's. I would insist on a replacement.
We've had our cadac a few years, like it BUT do have a problem with the flame blowing out. I understand that cadac have updated the model now to prevent this happening, but that doesn't help us and it can be quite annoying!
soot is caused by the wrong gas/air mixture it sounds like your jets on the burner could be blocked if its new take it back if its not you will have to drill out the rivets and clean the burner , i did mine at the w/e iand it now works fine with no sooting up, had to replace the rivets with nuts and bolts
Our Cadac used to be a nightmare if there was the slightest breeze around, it would blow out. The secret is to get a plastic 1.5 litre pop bottle, cut it in half, throw away the top half. Drill a 25mm hole in the base of the bottle and slide it over the chrome pipe so that the air/gas mixture jet is is protected from the wind. It now works a treat tust me.
I havn't got a cadac but had a problem with my protable gas cooker where the flame was yellow and my kettle got covered in soot, took it for a service and it turned out it was the small holes that the flame comes out was blocked so they cleaned them and it was fine, the following year the same thing happened so we cleaned them out with a cocktail stick and its been great since you could try this and if it dosn,t work id take it back.
