Hear the voice of one who knows - the long hard way, having suffered my hubby and his aerial perfomances every year!!!! Our new caravan which we picked up a week before the annual hols came with a Status 315 already fitted and we sort of sighed. Because we'd tried one some years before on our other caravan but thankfully only stuck it to the roof to test it first which ended up saving us drilling a hole into our beloved home on wheels when we discovered that it was total rubbish where we were, (and where we've been going for the past 12 years!).
So, we knew we'd need to still use a pole mounted aerial on the A frame once again which we did but we invested in a tiny wee cheap (under £35 in Asda), freeview box too and suddenly we had clear TV on all channels and had channel five for the first ever in Cornwall. Even the locals can't five without SKY, freeview or something similar.
My advice, definitely get a freeview box worth it's tiny weight in gold AND it tunes all your channels straight in, which if your TV isn't one with auto set up, you'll know is a real blessing! Go for it mate!
