A great product I know and a good upgrade from standard pegs. My question is whilst a delta will keep a tight reign on the guyropes on the flysheet, whats the best plan of attack to secure the inner as deltas wont fit the ring and pin system and if the inner along with the poles start to move then I cannot see a few guyropes with deltas saving the day, is there a peg out there as good as a delta that can hold down the inner any thoughts from anyone would be great ta!
I have a hold-all, which among other things, contains mainly heavy duty pegs that I've bought over the years and just use what I think is best for the ground conditions at that particular time.
The pegs supplied with the Diablo (and, indeed, the ones that came with the Outwell) are still in the garage un-opened
Seems strange that a company will make an enormous tent to then supply pathetic little pegs. Would be better to knock a tenner off and not supply anything
I would have thought that you cannot solely depend on the flysheet ties alone to hold the rest of the tent in place, its not suggested that the inner can do a dissappearing act on the outer, more along the lines of if the inner isn't adequately pegged the weight alone will take the fly with it no matter how well you peg out.Hence why I'm looking for a decent type of peg for the inner.
you worry too much really you do, it wont happen and if it did then dont go camping when a tornados are about.
serously the tent wont move the fly has more than just guylines dont it, just use longer pegs go the rings and stop worrying it wont blow away, well unless you not put it up right and its blowing 120mph.
Never planned on camping in a tornado, just asking the alternatives to standard pegs for the inner, thats all. By the way thanks for the thread stackridge.
I hear what you say , but wasn't sure as the frame of the tent is joined through the inner and what with all that weight I felt some good pegs may have been needed
Get a cheapo 12v cordless and wire in a long wandering lead (bell wire serves) with croco clips then run it off your service battery (or your starting battery in a pinch).
You can always finish them off with a suitable socket and ratchet if v.hard ground proves too much for the drill.
