Hi,

We just bought a fridge of ebay. Then we bought a caravan so we aren't going to need it now.

The fridge just looks like a smaller version of a house frigde with door space.

It wasn't new but we tried it and it keeps things very cold and looks great on the outside.  We paid about £45.00 for it. Anyway who needs brand new for camping.

I would suggest having a look on ebay you might get a bargain.

have you thought about renting one? We used to take our own until last year when we saw the site staff drive up to our neighbours with one in a buggy. This year we ordered one when we booked so should be waiting for us we hope. It will give me some more legroom for the journey- ha ha ha!

Be careful here

I bought an expensive 3 way fridge and it didn't cool at 35 -40C in south of France.

A friend had an Igloo Koolmate 40C whcih kept beers cooler than mine.

Now bought Waeco Tropicool 12v coolbox.  Goes down to 30C below ambient with thermal cutout at 1C so it doesn't freeze stuff.  Waiting for it to arrive.

It cost more but is the best 12v one on the market. Can connect to mains using a transformer. Bought on Ebay from Germany.

Herby I've just responded to this on another thread.  Which 3 way fridge did you have?  My Combicool did very well in France at 38 degrees plus.

Have a look at this. A proper small mains electric fridge not a 12v cooler but will only work on EHU, no good for gas or 12v. Comet also have a couple more this size or slightly larger.

How much did you pay in rental?  Sounds like a good idea.

Lived in the middle east for years and always used various 12v igloo koolmates for picnics etc - BRILLIANT!! Recently bought a newer model Koolmate 40 and its great - very cold! Initially charge for a couple of hours on the mains at home and then it just needs around an hour on the car cig lighter each morning (no loss of power to car battery) Comes with a shelf and can be used either as a chest or upright. Its a great box and keeps much cooler than most boxes = plenty of cool beers!!
