Lassie (oh gawd, I'm talking to a dog now... must be my age!LOL) do a google search for fishing tackle sites, there's hundreds of them and many on-line stores stock chairs, bedchairs and beds. They are expensive but well built and will last for many years.
Kids fall off the air beds and end up sprawled all over the tent by the morning so we tried camp beds. Kids slept in until 10.30 in the morning so they can't be bad.
They take up very little room and are easy to put together. We got two from camping and general, and two from Wilkinsons. (approx £8 each) Wilkinsons were better quality.
Air beds are more comfy though. The camp beds do restrict you especially if you want to curl up.
All down to personal choice - you'd have to try them for yourself.
I,ve seen in a catalouge an air bed which inflates about 18in off the ground! It looks like a normal double bed. But blowing it up must take ages. Also you,ll have to have a large & high tent to fit it in ! Looked like the best of both worlds to me.I think it was in a kays catalouge. The higher you are off the ground the better. See ya THUMPER.

OH and i have a double airbed and daughter has a single my son who is 14 also has a single but doesnt like it he prefers to sleep on a foam mat do not know how he finds that comfy never mind warm but he seems happy enough it must be the scout in him when he goes camping with the scouts they are not allowed to take inflatables.
I know about the foam mat...and I'll be sleeping on mine for the second half of my holiday! Now I'm getting older it's not as comfortable but a darn sight better than sleeping straight on the groun
Weused airbeds for a while and found them too uncomfortable. We opted for inflatable mattresses after talking to a chap in Buxton using one who highly recommended them. After looking around we bought the AIRIC from ALpkit.com and have had the best nights sleeps(is that right?) camping we have ever had. Good price, too, at £25 each delivered.

I know what you mean Thumper2338 as we purchased an INTEX. It inflates and deflates via the mains and is expensive, high and wide. (much like the husband) We use it in our Wynnster and it takes up a bit of room but we do get a good enough night's sleep. We've tried camp beds and blowup floor matresses and feel this is the best.

We also have the INTEX and its one of the best purchases we've ever made...definitely worth the extra money.
My mother bought ours of either bid-up TV, or Price-drop TV. I have seen them occasionally on ebay as well though. If I see any more I'll give you a shout...
