Hi there,

We have recently started camping again after a gap of about 15yrs. Being old gits now (40) we like our comfort a little bit more than before. We have bought a Coleman Double Airbed and it is fantastic (albeit £50 of fanastic!!!). As the years have increased so as my waist size and I am now, well lets say a big chap to be polite  ;o)

The question is, can anyone recommend a mains electric pump that will give a high pressure (mb). At the moment I use the pump that came with the bed (4 x D batteries) but this is very expensive (2 trips at best on battery life) and is still too soft. When I get on the bed I am virtually touching the floor. I have got around the problem a little by topping it up with a hand pump, however, with my kit, space is at a premium and as the hand pump broke recently I thought I should just go for a more powerful electric (mains) pump.

Any advice / suggestions would be much appreciated (and no wise cracks about losing weight please ... lol).

Cheers, Moooosssseeee

we had the tesco electric pump runs off the ciggy lighter in the car

it was cheap i think just under £7 it was ok  not as fast as thought but did the job, and now its redundant as i replaced the airbeds for self inflating mats

but it will serve useful when the kids want the paddling pool next summer at grandmas house

Try getting a GELERT Hurricane pump - absolutely brilliant - there are several to chose from ours is a rechargable one - well worth the money! £12-£14 from our local camping shop.

I'll 2nd that !!!

Brilliant little pump, has your airbeds up in no time, also doubles up as a hairdryer for the ladies !!

Will also suck a golf ball through a garden hose !!

Bought ours at Asda.
