As you can guess by the subject I am just about to go out and order a heater for my Tent. Me and my OH (Look I now the Lingo already) own a Vango Venture 600 DLX and wondered if this heater is (1) Safe and (2) Big Enough to warm up this tent.
Only reason why I am buying one is I am going to Wasdale next week and haven't been to the Lake District since I did my Chief Scouts Challenge (I'm 33 now), and I remember it being cold then. If this heater is no good which ones would you suggest from experience.
We have the blackcat and Imo its about as good as you can get for the money without getting an EHU !
I dont think it will have you toasty warm in really cold temperatures but it will take the chill off !
As for it being safe ,wel its as safe as you are ,as long as your careful not to touch it or have it near the fly (the surface gets very hot ) make sure you tent has ventilation (which the VV600DLX does) and dont leave it on at night
Just ordered it off wilday.co.uk and should receive it soon.
By the way love the Aspen Skatty, after opening up you pictures. Wish I had seen it before. Is it a good tent and also what are the bedrooms like in height etc.
We've got the same tent as you so please let us know how the heater did. I was considering getting an ehu just to run a heater on as I didn't think there were any heaters that could heat so much space properly without ehu.

No problem Liz. Will be using it proper on Friday Night, but have set it up at home and it feels like it will defo do the job.
I must admit I would be quite wary of using an unflued heater in any small space (vans included)
Regardless of what manufactures may say, and whether catalytic or not, any fossil fuel consuming appliance has the ability under certain conditions to produce large amounts of Carbon Monoxide.
Before you buy a heater invest a few pounds in a carbon monoxide detector, Tesco were selling one with a five year life for £19.99 recently.

we got a black cat to use when we went to the whitby meet, the first night was really cold so we put the black cat on, for us it wasn't up to the job so we are now changing our approach for next year and getting ehu and a fan heater

we bought a black cat too thinking that we could extend our camping season but it did absolutely nothing to warm us so i took it back and got a refund and bought ehu lead for the same price then bought a small fan heater from argos and what a big difference this made. dawn
