I've been hunting for a decent lightweight winter bag too.. I'm allergic to feathers so it has to be synthetic...It's quite trickyt finding one as the temperature ratings given are not any official standard. Also some manufacturers state the 'Comfort' temperature (the temperature whereby you will be warm enough if you are wearing a minimum of say socks, T shirt and undercrackers), whilst other manufacturers state the 'Extreme' temperature (the temperature where you will be ok if you are wearing a full set of clothes so not really very useful unless you are a genuine mountaineer or explorer). So not only do they have their own individual ratings/ measurements, but also you're not always sure if they're quoting the 'Comfort' or the 'Extreme' temperature. I'd strongly suspect the Oggie suggested above is an 'Extreme' temperature and that the 'Comfort' rating would be closer to 0 degrees C.
Anyway to get a decent synthetic bag which is light (not much over 2KG max) and small to pack yet also has a 'Comfort' rating well below zero, without spending the earth, you have a tough problem to crack.
So far the best possible options I have seen are some of the snugpak http://www.snugpak.co.uk/ range like the 'Winter' or 'Explorer' bags, or the Mountain Equipment Firewalker III http://www.mountain-equipment.co.uk/sleepingbags/firewalker/firewalker3.htm or Sleepwaker III http://www.mountain-equipment.co.uk/sleepingbags/sleepwalker/sleepwalker3.htm any other suggestions folks?
Here's some reviews by the way; http://www.outdoorsmagic.com/review/reviewcategory.asp?sp=&v=3&RCN=82
