I am a bit puzzled by the how well these fridges / coolers control temperature.
WE currently have an electric cooler peltier system. It does a good job of a bad situation but if the temp goes down over night any food you have in there and milk will freeze.
I wanted to get a 3 way but after looking at the manufacturers webb sites Im still not sure if while running on gas they are thermostatic in control. Ie do they just chug away at 15 below ambient or do they have some decent temperature control ?
We dont want to fork out on this expense if it is going to ruin food.
Also do people keep them running in their tents overnight
or porches.
Id like to keep it in the porch of our biaritz. Just wondering about any monoxide it may produce.

When on gas they do just cool down to a temp below ambient but you can control this degree of cooling. Unless you can totally prevent any draught or basically seal your awning air tight the small amount of carbon momxide should not be a problem.
I was dissapointed with a 3 way fridge as it only cooled to 25C below ambient. It was reaching 35 to 40C in SW France this summer and my beers were cool but not chilled.
Spent out on a Waeco Tropicool Thermo electric coolbox (top of the range and saved £70 on it by buying from EBAY Germany). I was getting colder beers than the caravaners as it cools to 30C below ambient and is thermostaically controlled from 1C - 15C so it doesn't freeze stuff at night (as they can!)
It cost £119 and included transformer for 230/240V. It runs on both 24V and 12V as well. It is very solidly built as well and can take the knocks.
I read about the combi cool, the thing is after our last traumatic outing, i think for us it is best to try and get away from electric so to be able to choose the smaller slower sites.
Ok 3 way looks like the route to go, the first sign of freazong any food and ill advertise it on here, so keep your eyes open next season.
Highly recomend the ELECTROLUX SIBIR RC1100. You can regulate the temp when using gas. We payed £135 from ccc's outdoors. Definately a good investment. It is quite big so make sure you've got enough space. We use it when not camping to keep all our beers cold.
Sound like a plan Arian, we have the Stibr 3 way works great on electric, on Gas in France it did struggle but the temp in the tent was well into the 80's. One thing to remember when in hot country, you turn the fridge up during the day to keep it all cold but at night remember to turn it down a little or it can freeze food.
I have just ordered a fridge. It is a Waeco Combicool. Are these 'true' fridges rather than electric coolboxes. We had an electric coolbox before and although it sort of served our purpose we were looking for something that you could control regardless of the outside temperature. Things still didn't last too long in the coolbox. We will be running it off of EHU.
