toysrus are selling a merion satnav for 249 quid in other shops its still 349 quid.

Our next door neighbour has bought a Sat Nav and every saturday morning they go somewhere so they can try it out , even asked me for a destination to try it. Being polite i usually only do it up to 30 miles(would love to longer-----much longer)

they ok for your w/e camping trips and having to get somewhere younever been before, yes you can buy maps but how many is enough and how many maps our out of date with in 12 mths, ie new roads bypasses and new layouts..

Yeh this is my problem now, bought the Medion from Aldi for my o/h last Christmas and although it's great, when we switch it on now it tells us to update maps , and i haven't a clue how to do it.

One of our drivers has got a NavMan 510. I've used it a fair bit but tend to switch it off until I get to the area I'm looking for, then use it for the last couple of miles. Otherwise it sends me on routes I KNOW are not the best way.

I do a bit of hill walking as well, so what I really want is a system that has full mapping, with postcode and road names AND will give and take 8 digit OS references.

Anyone know which ones will do this?

I bought blue media 6300 Personal Navigation Assistant for £199 + VAT at Macro last week. Excellent gadget, includes speed cameras, UK and Ireland maps and mountings for fixing to car or bikes.

For the price I would recommend this item.

I use a Garmin street pilot 111 into which you download map info from a disc on your puter. Great in theory, but it can send you to some unexpected destinations if there have been any recently added by-passes or roundabouts en route. I've ended up in a multi story and Tesco car parks whilst trying to find an address in Bournmouth.
