My other half needed complete shade due to medication..... No Problem we have a wind out awning.....Clang!!............The awning gave plenty of shade but absolutely NO U.V. protection!!!
I now need to make a removable extension to provide proper   shade for next year...................Can anybody please point me in the direction of a supplier of suitable material. and the tape to slide it in the channel.

Many thanks.

Is the problem with the material or is it reflection from The ground, UV rays are reflected of most surfaces, like grass, and the sun isnt, hence you can get burnt in the shade!!! I had a similar problem with a friend, otherwise try an awning with a removable front, PVC Material preferably as these are usually UV proof(Ish), of a good quality canvas, then you can zip the front off, and still get a bit of light. hope this helps, I will try to do a bit more digging for you.

Hi timtheenchanter.
Thank you for your reply and kind attention.
The U.V.rays are penetrating and radiating via the mainly white and transparent pvc material, that awnings are made of these days.
We removed the front and sides of the awning, and made some shade with a heavy green cotton umbrella, but needed a larger area to solve the problem. hence my search for material to replace the front panel.
Thanks again.
