dysons good, but a domestic machine, Henrys also good, but a semi commercial machine so V long cable, and nearly every part is replacable, plus you can use with a bag or bagless, though a bag, even though you need to replace when full is better than using bagless as the filter needs cleaning more regularly than you would need to change a bag, Cylinder type vacs are better for hard floors and uprights with a rotating brush, or beater bar are better for lots of carpets
O i wish i had known about homebase as i bought a henry yesterday for £93-90 after reading about them on here i thought i would buy one as we have a dyson and its not a bad cleaner its so heavy to carry upstairs, and like someone said on here go to a carboot you can buy one for a few pounds and there are loads. anyway as i say i bought one yesterday and its right what everyone says its great it lifted the carpet it had so much power im made up with it but i wont tell my husband about homebase.
Could I suggest you try one of my favorite sites for looking up recommendations ? www.reviewcentre.com is FAB !!! I love it on there, and am due to purchase a Sebo X4 (waiting for the post-Xmas sales) for many reasons, but mainly because I found it on their site. I also double checked other places, including the Allergy Buyers web site, as my partner is slightly allergic to my cat (but tolerates her, thankfully). It comes highly recommended on there too.
What really swayed me was when I actually went on the Sebo website. They try their best to work in an environmentally green way. Not bad in these days of money grabbing corporate businesses (and I should know, I work for one !!). I'd highly recommend googling the product you're looking at too, when you find something you might like.
We have a Henry at home... and we love him! I work for a builder and we only use Henrys for cleaning up... they cope with all sorts of builders rubble without complaining.
You can buy re-usable bags for them - just pop em in the washing machine every now and again - saves the filters.
At home we have a Miele ( 17 years old) and a Sebo ( 4 years old) , both very good. The daughter of a friend bought a Henry 3 years ago and is very pleased with it. For our Guide Hall we bought a JCB, which is very similar to a Henry but a little cheaper, and it is good too. Also have small Electroluxes which are good, but never tried a Dyson, too expensive.
We have a dyson now for in the house, the 'Henry vacuum cleaner that we have used for 12 years is still going strong, we use it mainly for vacuuming out the car and the campervan, and the garage floor !
