HI yes is the answer , you need a digital ariel. I got one from Argos but was not good enough. If the weather as bit iffy, the picture would break up or freeze. So I got a bigger better one of Ebay, now all channels and no problem with picture.

The only problem now is it loses some of the channels. I like listen to 3C, but have to get it to search for channels when I turn it on , can`t win lol. Their is Freeview website you can put in your postcode and it will tell you if Freevieew is in your area, just google it . I am reasonably happy with it as it , cost me nothing a week, love watching the Sweeney again and Randell an Hopkirk (deceased). lol

Any aeriel, Status or otherwise, can be used for Freeview as long as it can get a decent signal, and it's in a Freeview area.

any aerial will work with a good signal as said before, but dont let the digi fool you, mine will only work properly if the signal strength is above 25% on the channel i am watchiong, it will load, but will be all blocky and freeze

We get it although the post code indicator says we cant. Our local dealer says that if you get a good channel 5 picture you will get freeview. He lets you try it and have your money back if its no good .We do live in a hilly area.

HI Cas No can`t help you on this, never heard that one before.  As Romney says , it reminds me of when in the car and the radio automatically tuns to strongest signel. Without bring there and seeing it or reading manual , its hard to suggest anything. I have read these Freeview boxs do some weird and not so wonderful things, but a tele thats a new one on me

For Freeview you can get it on a normal aerial if you are in a good signal area but usual rule applies "BIGGER IS BETTER"

In most places that you can get freeview the bigger the aerial & the higher you get it the better the signal will be. The main thing is that there should be nothing between your aerial and the transmitter. Idealy your aerial wants to be able to see the transmitter with nothing in the way.

If you put your postcode into the Freeview website it will tell you. When we got ours we had to have a new wideband aerial on the roof which cost £75. The box cost £60 I think, that was 2 years ago. We've had no problems at all with it since. Certainly been worth it.

The only times we had a problem with ours was in the Lakes & Scotland (hilly areas),rest of the time fantastic, especially good on those cold wintery evenings if you camp late.

Most aerials will work fine with freeview if you are in a decent reception area, ie. near the transmitter. If not you will need a wide band aerial. Having said that, ours works in the tent no problem with a £4.99 indoor aerial from Argos. Just set it up and see how many channels it finds and what the reception is like is probably the best thing to do.
