Saw this TV in Asda yesterday £169.99. It is powered from a 230v supply through a small transformer, so I would assume that itcould be supplied directly from a 12v supply.   Seemed to have a good spec' level.  Think that I will probably buy one but would appreciate any information.

I'm not sure that you can power them direct from 12V supply as they can be very particular about exact voltage.  Was this not talked about on a previous thread?  I'm no expert, just seem to remember reading something like that.

We have a Bush 14" LCD and are very pleased with it.  The picture is excellent and the screen nice and bright.  It also has built-in DVD player ( not that we were really looking for one) and was £200 from Makro last year.

HI,

The one that I saw in Doncaster was not switched on.  The name on the front of the set was 'DUAL'.  Will definitely have to see it working following your comment.

Many thanks,

Peter T

http://www.makro.co.uk

This is websit address but you do have to be a trade person or be able to take along some works invoices etc.

Well worth it though my mum is always going (washing powder I think) and other stuff just have to remeber to add VAT on everything you see.

I bought a Beko LCD from the Co op for the van and it also uses a 12v transformer.  After much research I purchased a voltage regulator from Leisurepower (not cheap at circa £40) and it ensures a smooth power supply and is better than going through a inverter when running on battery or risking damage to te TV from an unregulaed 12 v supply

Hi Michael, I see you got an answer about the Makro website.

The Bush was on special offer when we got it, but these things are coming down in price all the time so you should be able to get it even cheaper now.  The regular 10" we had in the van for 6 years broke down in 2004 so we needed one for June 2005, so we had to take the plunge.

We are really pleased with it as it is much lighter in weight, takes up less room in the van when in use, and the screen is a better size for those sitting further away. The only problem we have is that it does not fit in the space the old one travelled in under one of the seats!  Meantime we are carrying it in a plastic crate in the car, but with some rearranging we could get it in the van.

I am a bit concerned that the "rough ride" it will get in the van might upset the electronics, can anyone reassure me that I am worrying unnecessarily???

Re LCD TV. My advice to anyone contemplating buying one of these for a caravan is: check that the TV has sufficient "tilt" on the screen to enable it to be viewed correctly relative to where you are to use/view it. Otherwise the picture appears too dark.We bought one of these and it was perfect at home but when located in the "TV cupboard" in our caravan, we could hardly see the picture. I solved this by placing it on a lower/nearer shelf (homemade)...perfect now.
