The Aquaroll is a good idea but if you're car camping it would take up a lot of room.  We use two of the small fold up water containers so they aren't that heavy to carry back from the tap, you also don't get a lot of stagnant water sitting around plus they are easy to pick up and pour from as the taps are not usually that effective on them.

Mark, if you're considering a dual fuel lantern why not look at a dual fuel cooker?  We have the Coleman dual fuel cooker and it is a fantastic piece of kit.  If you buy a cheap flat griddle pan you can put it on top and griddle fish fingers etc. as well.  No need to carry gas cylinders just get a couple of sig bottles and fill them with petrol.  The petrol cooker is much more powerful than the gas cooker and will, allegedly make toast as well - I've never tried it but the Coleman is apparently the only cooker that camping shop toaster attachments work with!!

Thanks people. This place is addictive but then I learn something new on each visit Thank goodness I've got another 3 months to make all these decisions - or maybe that's a bad thing.

Hey again Mark,

When i comes to having to make decisions start with the stuff you definaty have to get like a tent, sleeping stuff, something to cook on. once you got them take stuff with you from home until you make a decision on it like cutlery, pots and pans etc.

Unless you just happen to come across a great deal of cause!! Many peeps here frequent such establishments as Lidls, aldi, wilkinsons, tesco, asda these are where you get some bargins!!

Hi Mark and welcome, I'd agree with piglet and tigger about the aquaroll they are brilliant but if you are car camping like they said they take up so much room we haven't used ours for ages as with two kids, one is 4 years old a portaloo is more important saves treks across fields in the middle of the night.

Kids love torches just make sure you take loads of batteries.

If you are planning week long camping trips or longer You should consider an EHU I wouldnt be without mine we have a plug in light that clips to a tent pole and use a two ring electric hob. also a heater for when its too cold.

We also use separate chairs and table so that you have something comfortable to sit on in the evening.

Dont buy one of those toaster devices until you have read the threads on this site

Have fun and remember there will always be something new you need (any excuse for a trip to a camping shop)

Marie
