before we spend a lot of money does anyone have an opinion on the fridge that runs on gas.
We generally camp without electric and would like to save our car battery this year we are also camping with very young child and need to keep bottles fresh.
does tis fridge keep things very cool or just off warm???
There's loads of threads on here about gas fridges/3 way fridges which I'm sure will answer virtually any question you can think of about them.
We're the same as you, camp without electric, and treated ourselves to a 3 way fridge this year. It was wonderful. I used a thermometer to make sure it kept at the right temperature as it's easy to become a freezer if you're not careful.
We have a Sibir 3 way fridge (same as the Electrolux RC1100) works well on gas, mains electric or 12 volt. Can make ice cubes. We bought ours a couple of years ago for about £130.
We managed to freeze the entire contents of a fridge last year by forgetting to turn it down a bit overnight! So yes they do keep things very cool. It even froze the beer!!!
We have the Waeco Combicool. We usually run it on 240v, but we have tried it on 12v and Gas. It is the best camping investment I made last year. It makes ice cubes and keeps food and drink very cold, even on the hottest days.
Combicool for us as well, holds 40 litres wouldn't be without it.
My sister has the sibir fridge, which she thinks is great, but its a bit smaller inside than the combicool think its 35 litres but theres only 2 of them.
So if there's a few of you Id go for the combicool.
