You seem to have had loads of help on the cooker issue, so I just want to alert you to 2 things to do with safety
If you go for Grandad's gas cooker- buy a new hose. Hoses are now datestamped as they can perish, and you wouldn't want gas leaking or catching fire at the hose or connection. Quite cheap to buy the length you need from a camping shop.
BBQ's are great for camping, but don't take a still hot one into the tent for warmth at night. They give off carbon monoxide gas and a couple of campers have died. Great for sitting round outside though, in the evening.
Having said that, camping is fantastic, enjoy, enjoy!! Best holidays in the world.
