I had a windbreak with metal caps on the top and bottom of the poles and they made a lovely new patern on the interior trim of the car when they were stuffed in, so beware. I had to buy  a new one though as i lost it at scarborough.

I was thinking of replacing the wooden poles on mine with  sectional poles off an  old frame tent but didnt get round to it. its fitting the thing in the boot that was the problem for me till I got a different car with huge boot so happy with the wooden poles now.

Thanks all for your advice, we are learning tons.  It's a shame that the people who design camping equipment don't read some of the boards they would have some great ideas for a brand new range of camping products.  Scruffs, each year I say that I am going to print out my own Tshirts for the kids with our mobile no on them and I never have time but I belive it's quite cheap to do.  You just reverse print it onto transfer paper and iron on, or I think a lot of the paper packs come with softwear to help you, try WHSmith.  This year I may actually do it.  One thing I do do, however is my own stickers with our mobile no on, and as we have booked our pitches already this year I guess I could put the no of that on too.  I want a gadget invented that admits a loud noise if the child (wearing one transmitter) strays too far from the parent (wearing the reciever) now why in this super technical age can't someone produce one of those? Then I wouldn't need to take a windbreak!!!

You can get them - i'm thinking of our local Brewers fare which has a fun factory. the kids wear a little vest which will set off alarms if they escape (!) might be worth asking? either that or strap a baby monitor to them!

I'm definitely doing a t shirt and I like the idea of a sticker with a mobile number on, also considering putting a sign at the end of the pitch saying "caution- free range children"!

We purchased our latest windbreak from here

http://www.windbreaksgalore.co.uk/

Not the cheapest, but one of hte best we have seen.  We have had 2 khyams and plenty of the cheap ones from the seaside, but no of them lasted.  This looks just the job.  Was going for the beech hedge, but decided for something different and go the blue fish insted.

Regards

Trevor

When camping last year we had visitors with an 18 month boy.  He kept running off so I clipped a cheap extending dog lead to the back of his harness and problem was solved as we then pegged the lead down.  It meant that his mum could sit down in peace!
