Hi, just a point on the cost of camping gaz.  Due to the time I will spend in France this year it is likely that I will run out of propane and need to use camping gaz.  I have purchased the appropriate pig tail and valve at reasonable cost , but the price of camping gaz is absolutely extortionate.  The cost of buying a full 907 bottle at a caravan or camping shop ranges from around £35 to £55, with refills at around £12 if you already have a bottle to exchange.  However my local tool hire centre has come to the rescue and I got a full bottle for £26.83 ( the cost of a refill is £8.76).  Someone somewhere is ripping off us caravanners!!!!

My dealer informed me yesterday that the price of refills is set to rise by 20% in April and the last price rise was only in January.

Hello Scubadiver,(I used to be one of those!). Gaz cylinders are YOURS, ie they are not hired like Calor cylinders. The best way is to try and buy one at a boot sale. The cost of refills is very expensive in France. BUT, in Spain it cost us(last year) €6.80 at the local supermarket and €7.50 at our campsite. That equates to £4.85/5.35. We bought our 907 cylinders for £3 each at boot sales here and refilled in Spain.
