hi all

,has any one bought the propane /butane bottle level indicator from towsure is it worth getting . as there's nothing worse than being halfway throw cooking your bacon to find the gas has run out .here's to a dry easter happy camping

We've got one but I don't think it's been used yet. 

I know this question's been asked before and somebody suggested you pour hot (I think!) water on the gas bottle and see how much of it gets condensation on it and that's just as accurate!

Not a lot of help, I'm afraid, but I got rid of your blue face .  Somebody else will be along shortly to put you (and me, probably) right.

I had one of the magnetic ones for propane on the bottle in my motorhome but I could never work out from it where the level was! I left it on when I sold the motorhome - maybe the new owner can make sense of it.

With practice, you can tell if there's enough left to cook the breakie by shaking the bottle. Or so I am told. I just go & change it if it runs out.

Its not quite shaking the bottle - hold it horizontally and just rock it VERY slowly from side to side - you can then feel the liquid sloshing about - with practice you can tell quite accurately how full it is!

But boiling the hot water uses up all the gas then you have to go and buy a new bottle!

You can get regulators with guages on them, and valves for the larger bottles with a guage on as well which means you just have to glance at the guage from the safety of your deck chair and glass of wine - without having to get up  The guages are made by gaslow and are sold by CCC and Towsure plus most other outlets.
