We are going on our first camping trip this year but don't have a SIG, with 4 kids all scared of spiders i'm not sure wether i should have bought the Camping beds which are off the ground rather than the air beds i have already bought. Any suggestions, I don't mind paying out for the camping beds if it will make the holiday run smoothly. Really hoping we all enjoy this holiday, although i am begining to regret buying a tent without SIG, but did'nt know anything about tents when i bought it.
Am i worrying too much?

Hi i think youll be fine , we have 2 small children who dont like crawlies , they have the airbed type camp beds and are fine , i assume you have bedroom pods in your wynnster which have an intergral floor ,so so you wont get crawlies from under neath in the bedrooms.
we discovered camping last year and havent looked back, the kids love it , its a so much more relaxing way of spending a holiday break, you wont look back ,
best wishes fiz

Your tent should have SIG in the bedrooms where it matters. Our tent doesn't have a SIG in the living area and I can't say we've been really troubled by spiders! Most creepy crawlies come flying in through the doors rather than through minute gaps at the bottom of the tent. I'm sure your airbeds will be fine, just keep your doors shut. Make sure your mudflaps are tucked under your groundsheet and it'll be as good as having a full SIG.

There is a lot of fuss made about full sigs .Our tent has sig bedroom pods and normal groundsheet to the living area (like yours)and I havent noticed a difference at all from our previous full sig tent, with insects.
Its the midges that you should be more concerned about ! The little swines!!!!!!!, especially when you pitch too close to trees and hedges.

Yup, I agree with all these, airbeds are comfy - and as one who has spent around 120 nights a year in hotel rooms for the last 25 years, I can tell you that air beds are more comfortable than many hotel beds!
Keep the bedrooms zipped up and you won't have any problem. Make sure you have the doors of the tent zipped up at night when you have the lights on or every flying insect under the sun will come in! If you have a roof liner they are great, most insects we find, settle between roof and roof liner so are out of sight and mind!
------------- David Pulman ... flaps extended, gear down and settled on final approach for a smooth touch down
