700 should be 7-digit postcode functioning straight out of the box, no add-on needed. Don't think you can get an actual camera detector, but they use POI's (points of interest) based on the GPS location of cameras, which are downloadable (available from www.pocketgpsworld.com/ amongst others). Some free voices are available, otherwise Tomtom charge variable fees for different ones. We got John Cleese, which was funny to begin with but gets a bit tedious after a while! We used our Tomtom for the first time 'in anger' a couple of weeks ago; once you've used it you'll never go anywhere without it again!!

The 700 unit seems excellent value at the moment (£330 or less from online retailers) as they've just launched a new series (510, 710 & 910) but still worth buying IMO.

Hope that helps.

Paul

Hi,

Don't have the Tomtom 700 but use a PDA with the Tomtom Navigator5 software which should be installed on your system.  Have been using Tomtom for three years now with various software issues and have had no problems.  Can't remember the last time I used a paper map!

Be careful when using system for navigating as it will try to take you down some very narrow roads (single track); use your own judgement as system will automatically reroute you within seconds.

I have the safety camera software added to mine from Tomtom (others are available) which, when setup, gives you plenty of warning of speed cameras, speed limit you should be doing and where the cameras are sighted.  Of course there is a charge for this service, but I find it extremely useful.  Details can be found at: www.tomtom.com

Hi

Can't praise the TomTom enough I use mine alot

If it broke I'd buy another one tomorrow

I've tested quite a few and the TomTom is by far the best in my opinion

And another thing,

Me again !!

If anyone wishes to upgrade their TomTom ie.  ( celebrity voices, more POI's, splash screens, low bridges, safety cameras, map colours etc .

I do have a contact number of someone who supplies a cd rom with all these features which are easy to install on your TomTom

I paid about £5 for my disc

I travel upwards of 30,000 miles a year across the UK and the TomTom 700 is invaluable. I would never be without one and paper maps are redundant for motor travel as far as Im concerned.
