You lucky people with your low cost towbars!!

My Witter bar with detachable ball and twin sockets on a Suzuki Vitara has just cost me £386.

Definitely have to shop around.  We have used a local tow bar centre and also Vauxhall for our Zafira but it is a question of ringing around where prices are concerned.-------------
It better be nice this summer - I need a good holiday.

Just had our Renault written off - rear ended but thank god we had a towbar on!

Thinking of having a Zafira.  Wondered what you think of the towing capacity and how much (Approx) you paid for a towbar?

A work colleague has just had her new Nissan Primera written-off following a rear end shunt. Looks like the towbar took the full force and transmitted it through the car thus causing more widespread damage to the bodyshell. It is possible that had she not had the towbar, the rear crumple zone may have done what it was intended to do and absorbed more of the impact. Could be wrong though.

£290 inc electrics, for an Audi A6 Avante. I rang round, to not much avail, least we got peace o mind by using reputable company. So much money, its all payout to initially get going, but its got to be done!!

same for my primera, sometimes you don't have to take the bumper off which makes it a damn site easier

Harleyc1
Have had our Zafira since 2000. Its a 1.8. We tow a 4/5 berth Dandy. We dont' do 'tins on wheels'.
Started out just our 10 and 13 year old boy and us camping, no electrics, so we had a full boot and the trailer was well filled as well.
In 2004 we took the two boys (B***y great navvies) and the oldest's girlfriend, the trailer, a top box, all the kit that goes with the younger to Cornwall - he skateboards and bodyboards and for the first time a TV. The Zafira pulled lovely - its always been a great car for towing the trailer. We were well loaded up but still didn't seem like there was anything on the towbar. Would thoroughly recommend it.
Apart from usual maintenance/wear/tear the only problem we had was a few weeks of cutting out just before Christmas - got the throttle housing cleaned out and its all OK.

Hi,

Just to add to the South Wales list - as well as a couple already mentioned, I've known Alan and Louise at Llanelli Trailer Centre (01554 773608) very well for a few years and can vouch for them (although I don't know exactly what they'd charge).

All the best,

JT

HappyCamper2004 - thanks for the list. We ended up buying roof bars and roof box from Indespension. We talked it over last night and just couldnt afford the towbar/trailer option (never mind having no where to keep the trailer when not in use).

Thanks for all your help everyone, your advice was invaluable as always
