Bought a secondhand awning and used it for the first time and it leaked. How sucessful is reproofing with the stuff you get from caravan shops? (ps I scrubbed the awning with solution of bleach, could be the problem)

I reproofed ours on Sunday with something from the local caravan dealers think it was called Fabsil or something like that. It stunk anyway. It hasnt rained since so I dont know how good it is. But I was told that and the Fenwicks one are the best ones to buy.

I'll be doing ours soon with Fabsil, my mum let us have about a quarter of a gallon that she had left over form hers.

Fabsil works great, did my V old TT in feb, got soaked at dent in march, even a large 6 inch pool on top of the awning and it didnt come through, just make sure you are liberal on the seams

Bleach? Agggghhhh! No wonder it leaked  I used Fenwicks Tent & Awning Cleaner on our frame tent, then coated it with Fabsil & it withstood a thunder storm with very heavy rain last August. You can spray or brush on Fabsil, I used a brush & it didn't take very long to do either.

Thanks everyone I will give it a try.  I now know that bleach was a bad idea.  Lesson 1 million learned.
