Bought one of these second hand out of the paper at the end of last season. When the chap showed it me he had it plugged into the mains and it seemed to be working fine. Went camping last weekend and hooked it up to the gas and found that it wasn't working! don't know if it's something that I'm doing wrong or if there is something wrong with it. Does anyone know if there's somewhere I can take it to get it checked out?
When you say not working do you mean the gas does not light or the fridge doesn't get cold If its not lighting its poss your not holding the gas knob in long enough to light you need to turn the knob on and then hold in while you light the gas when lit you have to carry on holding the knob in till the thermocoupler has warmed up about 5 to 10 secs then you can let go and it should operate properly
Mine wouldn't work when I turned it all the way to the ignition point (with the flame) but it lights OK when I just turn it to number three on the knob.
I;m glad I found that out, in time for this coming weekend and just before I took it out :-)

Sometimes it take a bit to get it lit on gas, when you switch the gas on it take a few miniutes for it to come up the pipe, keep trying and if you hold your hand over the hole at the back, you will feel heat coming out when its lit, if it wont light with the ignition you can try lighting it with a match, i havent done this for a long time but if I remember correctly theres a hole on the back near the bottom, hopefully someone will be along to confirm this.
the gas is lighting and I can feel the warmth coming out of the back, but the fridge inside is just not getting cold! I'll try getting it higher than the gas and level and see how that goes
don't bother lifting the fridge if it is lighting ok..
Turn it upside down for an hour, then back for an hour then upside down for another hour.
The coolant has settled at the bottom.

If it's a caravan type fridge rather than a combicool type I think the advice is to turn it upside down and let the gas inside the fridge circulate. My dad tried this with his after a winter and it worked!!
can i just say thanks as our frigde did not work when we went away last weekend and i have just read your answer so OH is going to give it a try turning it upside down
