How long do they last?, there is probably an optimum number of discharges that they take but if you keep them topped up especially over the winter then they should last several years.
The difference between leisure and car batteries is that car batteries are designed to deliver a sudden surge/boost to start an engine wereas the lesiusre batteries are designed to deliver a slow but steady trickle for a long period of time. I've never compared but suspect that with the same equipment connected the car battery would lose its charge quicker.
