I have just seen an advert for BP gas light in the caravan club magazine it is a lightweight gas cylinder, I wondered if anyone has got one, and what their opinion is.(apologies if it ha already been reviewed on this site)

at the moment we have butane, but would consider changing if this was better.  It says it is half the weight of a normal container and you can see in the side to see how low the gas is, which sounds great. also they say they deliver free to your home, and it dosn't apear to be any more expensive than a normal cylinder.

I cant believe no one has tried these, maybe no one saw this thread, if you have tried them then please add to this thread as I would like to try them, but would rather wait untill someone has given a good review of them.

Fantastic product for those of us watching our weight - slight problem ......... Actually finding a supplier near us.  Why haven't CCC/Mitchells taken the option up?  It is recogmnised that this will be a very popular product.

I think they sound brilliant as you can see how much gas you have left, which alone is a brilliant idea, saw them on our travells  this month in devon/cornwall/dorset/wiltshire but can't remember where, the canisters even look good, would love to try one, just waiting for a good review.

I have the new Gas light propane cylinder and it is a lot lighter then the steel ones. I changed from 6kg red propane to the new 10kg gas light. Could only get the gas cylinders from a local garden centre but I understand the supply situation is getting better by the day. You local caravan accessory shop should be stocking shortly.

You will need  a 27mm adaptor to fit the top of the cylinder (my caravan store did have these in stock) and you will also need a Butane pigtail (pipe to connect between 27mm adaptor and existing gas regulator). Strangely it seems a propane pigtail does not fit.

But the 10kg cylinder is light and you can see the level of gas in it.

One word of warning, I did struggle to fit the 10kg cylinder into my front locker as its quite a tall cylinder and only just fits between floor and roof of the locker. However as its 10kg I expect it to last at least for the whole season and possibly longer. 5Kg cylinders are due out shortly.and should fit easily.

Hi Trev11sqdn

thanks for adding to this thread, I will be awaiting the 5Kg as soon as they are out as our cupboard in the van is small and the 10kg wouldnt fit, I think being able to see the level is the best feature as it has always been a problem wth the old type.
