Does anyone know any decent camping shops in North Wales ?
We will be going camping for a week very soon in North Wales (Conwy) and if we like the look of other people's kitchen tents/canopies/utility tents/windbreaks etc etc, we may be tempted to find somewhere to buy one while we are there.
Caseys outdoor leisure are nr Chester just off the A55, from Chester take the A483 towards Mid Wales/Oswestry and at the next mini roundabout take the sign for Garden Centre - Grosvenor I think, down that road about a mile on left - i got kichen with 2 tops & larder under fold easy for £32 and Easycamp annex utilty for £54 - great shop!! Not sure if the likes of specialist shops in Bewtyscoed do things like kitchens etc but are good for coats, walking stuff etc....
There is a big Camping Shop on the road to Black Rock Sands just outside Portmadog. It doesnt have a big tent display but it has a big range of accessories. It seems to be mostly Gelert and is very close to the Gelert Factory. If you go to the roundabout at the Tescos end of Portmadog it is all the way round the roundabout to the last exit if you are coming from the direction of Tescos or the first exit on the left if you have driven through the town centre.
Dont know details but friends were in Llandudno on holiday for day out and came home with a big frame tent from soem kind of outlet warehouse. Will see if I can get details and post.
There are 'millets' and 'blacks' in LLandudno. A good shop in Towyn but mainly for caravaners. Gelerts in Beddgelert is possibly the best, but far from conwy, unless you make it a day out there. Nice place with a lovely campsite at Cae Du.
Theres a small camping shop in Towyn on the main road. It sells gas, tables, pegs, kitchen things etc. I think you can order awnings and they also come out and do repairs.
The camping / caravaning store at Towyn (around 15 miles from Conwy) is excellent. The owner is very helpfull. If the have'nt got it, they will order it for you
The camping shop in Towyn is excellent and there is also an excellent shop in Portmadog (far from conwy), but both these shops are aimed more at caravaners.
If you get chance and decide to wander a little there are four or five camping shops in Betws-y-coed. One has been 'closing down' for a while now and has great discounts there's also a few camping stores including Cotswold - plus a Cotswold discount store.
I would recommend you visit Betws-y-coed not just for the camping shops but it's practically on Snowdons doorstep and there's lovely woodland walks and some nice shops.

we were at the gelert shop in april they have some right good bargins on at the moment
Wow, thanks for all the responses. I didn't think this topic would get so many. Looks like there are a few options then. Casey's at Chester (or Betws-y-Coed) sounds like the better options for a tent camper (although Chester is half way home again )
