I'm sure this has been covered, but I am really confused and would like to benefit from someone elses wisdom! Camped for the first time last August and was freezing! I seem to feel the cold very badly, and have decided to go camping this summer as long as I get a better sleeping bag. I am allergic to feather so don't want down. There are so many out there for just about any price. I am prepared to fork out a bit, but can't afford a fortune. Any ideas?
Welcome to UKCS - I thought I'd bump this up for you if not only to get rid of that blue face! .
You could have a serch for sleeping bag in the search box at the top of the page, as there's lots of advice already on these and keeping warm. I also posted this a couple of days ago - and I was very impressed with this sleeping bag as it gives you the option of add an extra layer. Coleman quality is also very good and the price was a steal.

You could always line your current bag with a cheap fleece blanket. That'd keep ya toastie, and you could always were thicker/more layers to bed like jog pants/sweatshirt.
mmmm.. I hoping to avoid the loads of clothes option. Last time ended up in thermals + clothes, jumper, wooly hat, hot water bottle as well as 2 cheap sleeping bags. Not a pretty sight! But thanks for the suggestion. More thinking of a roastie toastie comfy cosy sleeping bag.
Cybercheckout also have some 400gsm sleeping bags at a reasonable price. If you are like me a 'summer' bag just won't do. I used a 400gsm bag and I find it is just right.

We bought new bags last year and went for the Gelert 2/3 season bags, didn't fancy the mummy style (bit restrictive, although I believe they keep you warmer!) so went for the rectangle type with a hood on which is great for the chillier nights cos you can pull it up round your ears. The 2/3 season ones are good cos they go to minus 3 degrees although I've told my other half there's no way I'm going camping if it's that cold, but when it's warmer (hopefully in the summer) you can unzip then and just use them on top like a duvet and stick your feet out!
I do a lot of camping as I am involved with scouting and the one thing I was recommended was to get a good sleeping bag, I don't like mummy bags so the one I have has a square bottom with the hood top, it came from Argos and cost about £25 and is very warm (too warm sometimes), but it is roomy and cosy. I only ever need to wear pj's in mine.
It depends also weather you need one that is light to carry or doesn't take up a lot of room when travelling,
a simple 350 season 2/3 will be enough also if you use sleeping bag cotteon liners (saves on washig the bag) it be warmer also for the colder season a fleece liner, we never been cold and i sleep just with me boxers on, cos having least on warms the bag up faster and warm trap air is what its about.
I also have been looking for a new sleeping bag as i also get very cold and have been taking the duvet up until now (we need to make more space and sleeping bags compress better). I've been looking at the Vango Astral 350 and the Coleman Hudson 450 (because I hate mummy bags, but they are supposed to be warmer) - for the kids i'm looking at the Vango Nitestar 350's.
