Ready beds are good for stopping kids rolling off airbeds, yes, but they`re not nearly warm enough on their own. Put a good quality junior sized sleeping bag inside...Vango and Coleman both make good bags for children....and the kid will be nice and snug.
Tried ready beds, tried air beds, found best combination was camp bed and adult size sleeping bag, cos my two boys aged 9 and 4 just cannot stay on an air bed and the ready beds were a nighmare. Might be expensive but they have lots of wriggle room in adult size sleeping bags and no I don't worry about em suffocating in case anyone is worrying about that. Never forget first camping trip blumming nightmare with air beds, youngest slept with face on groundsheet, managed to miss airbed, roll mat etc!
My kids use ready beds, but we only really camp in summer, and we are quite far south.Big B and Valk Scot I am from Aberdeen and I would not think for a second that ready beds would be warm enough there for camping. In Cornwall they should be warm enough,I think they are a really good idea. I do have the lidl fleece bags just in case they get cold.
Once we booked a static tent in France and thought that my oldest son who was about 6 at the time had been abducted. He had rolled off the camp bed and right underneath! He had not even woke up.
...we use ready beds (I think ? - sleeping bag wrapped around an air bed ??) and they work fine. We tend not to worry how they end up over night as they rarely wake up. Our battle is getting them to switch off long enough to go to sleep !!

I think even in Cornwall you might be taking a chance with just readybeds and fleece blankets. I`ve been in France in high summer and still been glad of my big sleeping bag on some cold wet nights. Better take too much bedding than to little.
I am sure that you are right, maybe my kids are just hot blooded! On our one camping trip north of watford gap - Wales and boy it was wet and cold they were warm enough without fleece. I can only speak from our experiences,im not an expert.
