we have a 1200/2000W fan heater and a gas heater too.

The small fan heaters would take some doing to knock over as they are usually square and low so don't fall over.

You may well find that even though the temp is higher in August you will feel the cold more because it has been so much hotter during the day. The temperature varies more day to night in the summer months. So in colder months where it's colder all the time you get used to it and don't feel it as much.

We are going to the Penrith meet at the end of the month and I am just praying it is warmer as the darn heater will never be off with my OH She was moaning she was cold the other day & the heating was set at 25C the rest of us were melting. Se moaned in Florida in August too but that was too hot over 100F everyday...lol

I just can't believe that anybody would need a heater in AUGUST!

If you need a heater anytimer between now and September I suggest you see a doctor to see if you have any blood in you!

We are both 56yrs old and don't suffer with the cold, camp in all weathers, I some times think you young uns are too mamby pamby!  what you going to do when the winter comes?

If you have DECENT sleeping bags then you shouldn't need a heater.

Dukedog - I do respect your views, and if it was just me on OH I probably wouldn't bother with a heater.   However camping with children is a totally different ball game, especially if a child has a condition which can lead to other complications.
A heater is not needed for when you are in bed, but for sitting around the tent.

Before now I've come in from a trip out with two tired cold children, and the heater had been a blessing - the same as it has been on a couple of occasions when the weather has been beyond the pale - too wet and windy to even think about donning waterproofs and going out.    Being able to sit in the tent with a bit of extra warmth and do something together has really helped   The mere sound of the wind and the rain lashing against the tent was enough to make you feel cold.
